Domestic Flight: Enjoy a scenic flight from Phnom Penh to Banlung, the capital of Ratanakiri.

Day 1: Arrival in Ratanakiri

Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport for a domestic flight to Banlung, nicknamed “The Red City” for its vibrant laterite soil. After landing, transfer to the exquisite Terres Rouges Lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on a thrilling jeep adventure along rugged roads to discover the stunning waterfalls of the region. Begin with the impressive Teuk Cha Ong, where cascading waters create a breathtaking backdrop. Next, visit Okatchagn Waterfall, located near a hill tribe village where elephants can sometimes be seen roaming the forest. After a day of exploration, enjoy dinner and unwind at your luxurious lodge.

Day 2: Cultural Encounters and Scenic Views

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the lodge. Then, journey northwest through enchanting bamboo forests toward the village of Voeune Sai, perched on the left bank of the Se San River. This fascinating enclave, predominantly Chinese, showcases a unique community where Khmer is rarely spoken.

Explore the Tampoun villages upstream, famous for their intricate funeral totems. If conditions allow, enjoy a boat trip (or jeep ride) to the village of Ka Chaoan to appreciate the stunning craftsmanship. Return to Terres Rouges Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, soaking in the beauty of your surroundings.

Day 3: Nature’s Marvels and Unique Traditions

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After a hearty breakfast, set off north toward Laos, where you will encounter the captivating Veyrum Plang, a unique volcanic rock formation with a small seasonal waterfall and the mysterious tiger caves. Travel through a variety of landscapes, including primary forests, bamboo groves, and open bushland.

Visit the remote Kroeung villages, known for their extraordinary bachelor houses perched on tall bamboo poles, a tradition maintained until the young men marry. The best time to witness this unique practice is from February to August. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a hidden waterfall before continuing your village exploration. Conclude the day with dinner and overnight accommodations at your lodge.

Day 4: Final Explorations and Departure

Meals: Breakfast
Begin your last day with an early visit to the bustling Banlung market, where you can shop for local crafts and souvenirs. Next, travel to the breathtaking giant Loam Lake, a stunning volcanic lake surrounded by untouched rainforest. Take a refreshing swim or enjoy a peaceful walk along its shores.

After soaking in the serene atmosphere, transfer back to the airport for your flight from Banlung to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, enjoy a smooth transfer to your hotel, cherishing the unforgettable memories of your Ratanakiri adventure.

Nareth and her team are fantastic! We were there to build houses in the morning and they developed a custom afternoon itinerary that really helped us maximize our time in the area. They were all personable, easy to work with, responsive and flexible. Our guide Happy gave interesting insights into the local culture. The restaurant picks were spot on and showed the variety of local cuisine. The various sights we visited showed an interesting and diverse range of culture with something for everyone. Nareth planned an excellent and first-rate multi-day visit for us in Siem Riep. She is a great organizer, pays attention to the details and is helpful and flexible. Amongst the multitude of choices, she seems to know the best attractions and restaurants. From Khmer shows to the circus to artist workshops - she selects informative and high quality venues.
