Itinerary

Cycle along the Old River Road and visit Wat Rokakandal and local production sites
Explore the scenic west bank of the Mekong, passing tobacco farms and rice paddies
Stay overnight with a local family in a traditional Cambodian home
Kayak through the flooded forests of the Mekong and spot rare Irrawaddy dolphins
Visit local rice noodle and rice whisky makers and climb Sambok Mountain for a breathtaking view

Day 1: West Bank of the Mekong & Homestay (Cycling, 30 km) (L, D)

8:30 AM: Start your cycling adventure by departing from Kratie and heading south on the scenic Old River Road. Along the way, we’ll visit Wat Rokakandal, a temple known for its 400-year-old wood carvings. Capture photos of the temple and the floating village across the Mekong while waiting for the ferry.
West Bank Exploration: Once we cross the river, you’ll get to see local attractions like tobacco drying houses, seasonal crops, and the production of palm sugar. The peaceful landscapes of rice paddies offer great photo opportunities, and you may even taste freshly pressed sugarcane juice along the way.
Local Lunch: Take a break with a local family and enjoy a home-cooked Cambodian meal in their cozy rural home.
Village Cycling: Continue cycling through charming rural villages where you’ll be greeted by friendly locals, especially kids shouting, “HELLO! HELLO!” Along the route, we’ll stop to witness traditional rice whiskey and noodle production and cool off with a swim at one of the hidden Mekong beaches.
Homestay: In the evening, we’ll arrive at our host family’s home along the riverbank for a true Cambodian homestay experience. Share a traditional meal, sleep under a mosquito net, and enjoy the authentic rural lifestyle. Experience a refreshing bucket shower and soak in the hospitality of your hosts.

Day 2: Dolphin Watching by Kayak & Local Productions (Kayaking, 17 km; Cycling, 16 km) (B, L)

Sunrise & Breakfast: Start the day early with a stunning sunrise over the Mekong’s flooded forests, followed by a local breakfast of rice noodle soup.
Kayaking Adventure: After breakfast, we’ll take a ferry to the east bank where your kayaking journey begins. Paddle through the sand islands and flooded forests of the Mekong River, enjoying the tranquil beauty of nature. As we make our way downstream, you’ll have the unique opportunity to spot the rare Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat—without the disturbance of motorboats.
Lunch & Cycling: After a relaxing lunch at Kampi, hop back on your bike for the second leg of our cycling tour. Visit local rice noodle producers and take in the panoramic views from Sambok Mountain. Before we return to Kratie, we’ll stop by a brick factory and possibly a rice whiskey distillery to learn about the region’s traditional craftsmanship.
4:30 PM: We’ll arrive back in Kratie in the late afternoon, marking the end of this immersive 2-day adventure.

  Great. All good

Nareth and her team are fantastic! We were there to build houses in the morning and they developed a custom afternoon itinerary that really helped us maximize our time in the area. They were all personable, easy to work with, responsive and flexible. Our guide Happy gave interesting insights into the local culture. The restaurant picks were spot on and showed the variety of local cuisine. The various sights we visited showed an interesting and diverse range of culture with something for everyone.
