Your adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from Siem Reap and head toward the base of the Dangrek Mountains. The scenic drive is a journey in itself, passing through picturesque landscapes and rural villages, offering glimpses of Cambodia’s natural beauty.
Upon arrival at the foot of Preah Vihear, you will begin your ascent to the temple. The climb takes you along a series of ancient stone steps, leading to the first gopura (entrance). After exploring the intricately carved entrance, you’ll continue along the paved causeway that winds its way toward the temple’s sanctuary. In the afternoon, you will arrive at the heart of Preah Vihear Temple, where the sanctuary sits perched against the cliffs of the Dangrek Mountains. Here, the guide will take you through the temple’s architecture, explaining the religious significance of the bas-reliefs that depict scenes from Hindu mythology.
As you wander through the sanctuary, you will have the chance to observe the details of Khmer craftsmanship, taking in the grandiosity of a temple that has withstood centuries of change, war, and natural elements.
